Champions of Health Gala to Feature NBA Legend Magic Johnson

(TULSA, OKLA.) – NBA legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson will be the keynote speaker for the 2012 Champions of Health Gala on October 8, 2012 in Oklahoma City. A man of many interests, Johnson is known as an NBA legend, two-time Hall of Fame, entrepreneur, philanthropist and motivational speaker. He has successfully parlayed his skills and tenacity on the court into the business world.

2012 'Champions of Health' Winners Announced

The Eagle Adventure program in Stillwater has been named the recipient of the Dr. Rodney Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award, the highest honor of the Champions of Health awards. The program focuses on preventing the development of type-2 diabetes in Native American children.

Looking at Oklahoma's health rankings, it is obvious that our state is in need of champions who can improve the landscape of public health. Fortunately, there are countless groups and individuals who are making an impact on the health of Oklahomans through innovative programs and fresh approaches to health and wellness. The Champions of Health awards were created to recognize these efforts and to provide funding to help further this work.
